Julius August “Brownie” Brown, 94, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Bethany on University, Fargo, ND.
Julius was born on September 8, 1924, to Eddie and Ellen (Antilla) Brown in Detroit Lakes, MN. He attended schools in Detroit Lakes and moved with his family to Audubon, MN where he was raised on the family farm. Julius joined the Army and served our country during World War II. He returned from the war and married Olga Olson and from that marriage came five children. He began his lifelong trucking career of over 60 years. He was united in marriage to Joyce James on March 16, 1972, in Little Falls, MN. In his retirement, Julius was quite active at Dilworth Lutheran Church. He would cook and bake for church activities and for the many church dinners.
Julius enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed cooking and baking, spending time with his friends, and above all, loved spending time with his grandchildren. His great sense of humor will be missed.
Julius is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; children, Julius Brown Jr., Curtis (Denise) Brown, Nancy (Dave) Sherman, and Kathy (Manny) Berry; grandchildren, Jami Gordon, Michael (Trisha) Cole, Lisa (Ryan) Olson, Nick (Jessica) McArthur, and Lincoln (Lindsi) McArthur; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Brynn, Kendall, Hudson, Kennedy, Alexis, Hendrix, and Knox; brothers, George (Jan) Brown and John (Lorraine) Brown; sisters, Bernice Connelly, Betty Ann Saari, and Delores (William) Ladwig; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Ellen; son, Tom Brown; grandson, Cale Brown; brothers, Charles Brown and Gene Brown; and sisters, Dorothy Bradshaw, Carol Hill, and June Buck.
Visitation will be from 5:00P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by the prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, MN. Visitation will continue, Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from noon to 1:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 1:00 P.M. at the church. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
