Karen L. Kasner

Karen Kasner (Skeeter), age 60, of Moorhead MN, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2020 at Arbor Park Assisted Living in Moorhead.

Karen was born June 13, 1960, in Fargo, ND to Denis and Shirley Hanson. She was a 1978 Graduate from Graceville High School. She married Michael Vold of Graceville in 1980. Eventually she moved to Florida where she brought into the world her two children, Shawn and Stephanie. Karen remarried to Lee Kasner in 2000. She worked in patient accounting at Florida Hospital North Pinellas and Gulf Coast Gastroenterology where she created lifelong friendships. Karen lived in Florida for over 30 years before relocating back to her home state and residing in Moorhead/ Dilworth area in 2014 with her son, Shawn.

Karen dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Karen excelled at propping up her children, family, and friends, supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives with a strong foundation of her faith. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Karen was a passionate artist, cook and musician and mother. When she was not filling her home with warmth and kindness, or fresh baked goods, she could be found in her home practicing sewing, drawing or creating new recipes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Denis E. Hanson and Shirley A. (Warner) Hanson, and brothers-in-law, Douglas Vold of New Port Richy, FL and Bradley Vold of Graceville, MN.

She is survived by her two children, Shawn Vold of Moorhead, MN and Stephanie Vold of Palm Harbor, FL; two sisters, Jean Hanson of Dilworth, MN and Connie (Frank) Rasmussen of Rocklin, CA; brother, Jerrald (Jerry) Hanson of Wahpeton, ND; as well as an aunt, many cousins, and friends. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Karen’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and fellow residents at Arbor Park Assisted Living who cared for her with so much love and kindness. Arbor Park residents and staff became her second family.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 10:00 A.M., with a visitation starting one hour before, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. A live stream on the service will be available on Karen’s page at www.wrightfuneral.com.
