Kathleen A. Berneking

Kathleen A. “Tootie” Berneking, 72, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, May 24, 2018, at home under the care of family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Kathleen was born April 1, 1946, in Breckenridge, MN, to Emmanuel “Nick” and Amelia “Molly” (Schemmel) Antrim. She grew up near Wheaton, MN, and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1964. Following high school, she continued her education at Moorhead State University. On November 27, 1965, Kathleen married Dale Berneking. Together they made their home in Fargo/Moorhead and started a family. Over the years, she worked at Fargo Nursing Home and later sold Avon products. Kathleen enjoyed playing cards, scrabble and going to the casino. She also enjoyed music and going to concerts. Kathleen had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs. Most of all however, she cherished the time with family. She loved watching her grandchildren grow and being a part of their lives and activities. She will be dearly missed.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Dale; children, Christy “Cricket” (Dale) Rhodes, Craig Berneking, Lori (Mark) Thielbar, Keith (Stephanie) Berneking; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Lori Shane Dewaun; sister-in-law, Marge Antrim; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Harold Antrim, MaryAnn Yawn, Edward Antrim, Thomas (Anita) Antrim; brothers and sisters-in-law, Betty and Earl McGuire, Thelma Berneking, Louie Dewaun; one niece and one nephew.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., followed by the prayer service at 7 p.m., in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 30, at 11:00 a.m., in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
