Kathleen Kay (Biewer) “Kathie” Wieser was born on October 2, 1953, in Breckenridge, MN. She was the youngest of two born to Magdalena (Harles) and Anton Biewer who lived on a farm in Lidgerwood, ND. She attended a one-room country school until 2nd grade. When it closed she attended St. Boniface Catholic School until 8th grade. She graduated from Lidgerwood Public School in 1971.
Kathie and Vance Wieser married on October 2, 1971, on her 18th birthday at St. Boniface in Lidgerwood. They moved to Pierre, SD where Dawn was born. Kathie worked for the state of South Dakota as a Librarian. Due to Vance's work, they moved to Ortonville, Breckenridge and settled in Moorhead, MN. In 1979, Adam was born. In 1980, Kathie became a Teller at Moorhead State Bank, and later advanced to a Vault Teller. The family moved just outside Moorhead on a hobby farm, where they still reside. In 1984, Kathie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and, at the same time, discovered she was pregnant. Kristen was born in 1985. Due to Kathie's advanced MS she had to resign at the bank in 1989. Kathie had an entrepreneurial spirit. While Kathie was a bank teller, she was also a consultant for Avon and Mary Kay. She continued her ventures by starting her own business, Silk Flowers by Kathie.
Kathie loved to visit with people and wanted to remain actively involved in the community. Ronald McDonald named her Volunteer of the Year in 1998. She volunteered for many organizations including American Cancer Society, The Children's Museum, Make-A-Wish, Dakota Hospital and the MS Society, where she helped start a resource library. Kathie also volunteered at St. Joseph's Catholic Church working on bulletins and supporting various prayer lines. Kathie was a woman of deep faith, which she leaned on to navigate the health challenges she encountered throughout her life. She was a Christian Mother for 35 years.
Kathie loved to spend time visiting with her family and friends, playing bingo and cards, crafting and playing with her grandchildren. Kathie was known for her witty sense of humor, her love of music and her strong will and determination.
Kathie was called to eternal rest on Friday, March 28, 2025. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
