Keith G. Hanson

Keith G. Hanson passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. He lost his brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born March 15, 1957 in Powers Lake, ND to Eleanor Farstad and Gilbert Hanson. When Keith was a year old, the family moved to Minot, ND. He graduated from Minot High School in 1975 and later Minot State University with a degree in business. Keith worked during high school and college at Piggly Wiggly in Minot. Throughout his successful career he held positions with only three major employers including Gravel Products in Minot as an accountant, Nash Finch Company as a grocery buyer, and most recently Sterling Companies MBA Architects in Fargo as a property manager. It was while working at Piggly Wiggly that he met his future bride, Sheila Bailey. They married April 30, 1982 in Minot. Throughout their 30 years he continued to call his best friend, Sheila, "my bride." His job took them to Lincoln, NE before settling in Moorhead, MN in 1989 where they raised three children, Levi, Shea, and Jordan. Keith was known to many as a kind and sincere man who always put the needs of others before his own. His sense of humor and friendly manner endeared him to many family, friends and fellow coworkers. He loved the NDSU Bison and Minnesota Vikings. He carried on his father's love and skill of fine woodworking and enjoyed projects around his home as well as helping out family and friends. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd where he was active in the "Half Timers" men's group. Being involved in his children's activities was something that he truly loved. Keith is survived by his wife, Sheila; children, Levi Miranda, Shea, and Jordan; brothers, Mick Sharon Hanson of Missoula, MT, Lowell Hanson of Devils Lake, ND, and Duane Darlene Hanson of East Grand Forks, MN. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Rosemary Bailey of Granville, ND, and brothers-in-law, Robert Bailey of Towner, ND, Terry Kathy Bailey of Towner, ND, Jon Betty Bailey of Maple Grove, MN, Randy Joan Bailey of Minot, ND, and many beloved nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert "Gib" and Eleanor Hanson, and his father-in-law, Vernon Bailey.The family would like to give a special thanks to Sanford Health's nursing staff on 7 south and the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit, the sfaff at Roger Maris Cancer Center's Infusion Center, and his oncologist, Dr. Steen for their exceptional care.
