Kennard M. Hamre, 83, of Lake Park, MN, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, in St. Mary's Regional Health Center in Detroit Lakes, MN. Kennard was born September 17, 1926, in Atlanta Township, rural Ulen, Minnesota, to Carl and Ora Engum Hamre. He grew up and attended rural country school and later graduated from Lake Park High School. Kennard served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, he worked for TF Powers Construction in Fargo, ND, as a crane operator for over 25 years. He later was employed with Kost Brothers for a few years before retiring. Kennard married Angeline Boska on October 26, 1968, in Mahnomen, Minnesota. He loved farming and enjoyed checking the crops. After his retirement he worked for area farmers, Lowell Anderson and David Larson until retiring in 2007. Kennard had a love for family and enjoyed spending time with his great nieces and nephews. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Kennard was a self-serving man who never asked for help and was slow to anger. He will be missed dearly by those who knew him. Kennard is survived by a sister-in-law, Donna Hamre of Detroit Lakes, MN; nephews, Mark Kathy Hamre of Lake Park, MN, Clark Leann Hamre of Fergus Falls, MN, Clayton Hamre of Audubon, MN and Cathy Hamre of Hawley, MN; great nieces and nephews, Kristin Chad Ehlert, Kim Dan Essig, Stephanie Hamre, Jeremy Jenny Hamre, Justin Hamre, Susie Hamre, William Kruft, Jr., Katie Kruft, Andy Kruft and Carston Hamre; great-great nephews, Devin Wadholm, Ashton Ehlert, Alex Hamre and Jaxon Essig. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Angeline and two brothers, George and Carl.
