Kenneth J. Hesteness

Kenneth J. Hesteness, 93, Hawley, MN, died on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Hawley Senior Living.
Kenneth was born on May 6, 1923, in Lake Mills Iowa, to Jacob and Jennie Hestad Hesteness. He graduated from high school at Pettibone, ND, and then served in the U.S. Navy where he was in the Pacific Theatre of WWII. Following his service he returned to Pettibone and then moved to Jamestown, ND, where he married Alice Sandberg on November 18, 1947. They moved to Fargo, ND in 1955 where he started a milk route for Fairmont Creamery. They moved to Hawley, MN in 1959. Kenneth went to work for American Family Insurance in Moorhead and then opened his own office in Hawley. In 1970 he and Clifford Lura opened L & H Cat Sales in Hawley.
Alice died on March 29, 2013.
Kenneth was an avid hunter in his younger days.
His family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Hawley Senior Living and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the wonderful care they provided. Kenneth loved his time at Hawley Senior Living.
Kenneth is survived by his children: Larry Sue Hesteness, Hawley, MN, Gary Pam Hesteness, Mission TX and Audubon, MN, and Perry Hesteness, Meridan, ID; grandchildren Allyson, Ashley, Craig and Jill; great-grandchildren Karl, Rolando, Jr., and Victoria.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings Emmy Lou Melhoff, Doris Wichael, Donald Hesteness, and Gerald Hesteness.
Visitation: Friday, March 31, 2017, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.
Funeral: Friday, March 31, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.
Interment: Silver Lake Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
