Kenneth “Kenny” Stein

Kenneth Kenny R. Stein passed away peacefully on January 11, 2012 at his winter home in Englewood, Florida surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Kenny was born October 5th, 1937 in Moorhead, Minnesota to Jacob and Anna Stein. He grew up in Georgetown, Minnesota as one of ten children. He joined the North Dakota Air National Guard in 1955 where he served for almost 38 years. He was always proud to be a Happy Hooligan. On June 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Arleen Martin. Together they raised three daughters. He was known for his generosity, big heart, and was always very loving and giving. He enjoyed spending cherished time with family and friends, traveling, and wintering in Florida. He enjoyed yard work and gardening, especially making and giving away his home-made hot sauce. Kenny is survived by his wife, Arleen; daughters, Cheryl Mike Hoff, Moorhead; Lori Mike Wood, Fergus Falls; Sandi Charlie Renville, Fargo; grandchildren, Chris Milissa Hoff, Brian Hoff; Joseph, Dana, and Donovan Wood; Kayla Thomas Gonser, Rachelle Bill Fortier; Chad Hamann, Josh Renville; great grandchildren, Coleman and Madilyn K Hoff, Matthew, Andrew, and Daniel Gonser; sister, Margaret Dessel, Visalia, CA; brothers, Bill Stein, Stockton, CA, and Bert Stein, Agawam, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers. Memorials to Bethesda Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, or Hospice Care are preferred in lieu of flowers.
