Kenneth R. Perkins, 87, of Glyndon, MN, died on July 29, 2015, in his home near Glyndon, MN.
Kenneth Raymond Perkins was born on March 18, 1928, in Stillwater, MN, to Fred and Nina Quam Perkins. He grew up in Hawley, MN, where he attended school. Kenneth then worked for the rail road, before serving in the United States Army Air Guard. Upon returning from his service, Kenneth started working at Ames Sand and Gravel. Kenneth was a welder and ran the plant there for 54 years. Kenneth married Lola Haugtvedt and together they had five sons. On May 17, 1975, he married Marge Feakes and gained her two sons and five daughters.
After retiring, Kenneth started playing golf and got a hole-in-one on July 1, 2011 at age 83. He was an avid bow hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and ice fishing with his family and friends. Kenneth’s favorite hunting trip was to Texas, hunting wild boar. He also enjoyed watching Western movies, especially John Wayne, and listening to old country music. During the summer, Kenneth also enjoyed being out in the yard, mowing the grass. He will be dearly missed by all.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Marge, Glyndon, MN; five sons, Craig Perkins, Shoreview, MN, Kent Perkins, Fargo, ND, Stacy Deanna Perkins, Dilworth, MN, Dwight Marlene Perkins, Dilworth, MN and Kevin Peggy Perkins, Grand Island, NE; seven step-children, Debra Reynolds, Wahpeton, ND, Donna Harper, Brandon, MN, Robert Lynette Feakes, Hawley, MN, Steve Gloria Feakes, Katy, TX, Nancy Salter, Glyndon, MN, Susan Feakes, Glyndon, MN, and Julie Phillip Grubb, Glyndon, MN; brother, Billy Delores Perkins, Wichita, KS; three sisters, Betty Hill, Dilworth, MN, Daryl Robert Liliquist, Fargo, ND, and Donna Chloupek, Dilworth, MN; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 16 step grandchildren and 18 step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ronald, Loren and Gerald; four sisters, June, Delores, Janice and Lois; grandson, Michael Feakes; and great-granddaughter Norah Eddy.
Visitation: Tuesday, August 4, 2015, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
Funeral: Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Dilworth, MN.
Interment: Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
