Kent Strand

Kent Donald Strand, 63, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2017. He was born on April 14, 1954 to Hartvick Shocky and Evelyn Woessner Strand. He was preceded in death by his father, Shocky. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn, and five siblings and their spouses, as well as eight nieces and nephews: Susan Kirkland and children Anna, Thomas, and Alice; George and his wife, Regina, and their children Jason and Andrew; Sandra; Keith; Sarah and her husband R. Scott Strand and their children Matthew and his wife Sarah Connolly and Brian. Kent was also blessed with a large family with many aunts, uncles and cousins originating in Portland, ND and Elbow Lake, MN.

Kent graduated from Moorhead High School in 1972. He enjoyed sports, especially football, and spent many hours volunteering with the Moorhead State Dragons football program in the 1970’s and 80’s. He participated in the Special Olympics on a local, state and national level. He also enjoyed music, especially Elvis Presley. He was a life-long member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

The family is grateful for the long -term support of Clay County Social Services, Connections, Moorhead Manor, and in his final days, Villa Maria Nursing Home.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1000 14th St S. Moorhead. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead.
