Kermit H. Engebretson, 82, Fargo, ND died on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in Manor Care, Fargo, ND.Kermit Hilman Engebretson was born August 17, 1922 in Pelican Rapids, MN. He was the son of Carl and Helga Hersrud Engebretson. He moved with his family to Fargo, ND in 1927 where he attended Fargo Public Schools, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1940. After high school, he joined the US Navy in 1942, serving in the European Theatre during WWII. Upon his discharge in 1945, he returned to Fargo. Kermit married Doris Johnson on October 28, 1950 in Moorhead, MN. He was employed by Consolidated Freightways, Martin Transfer and Burlington Northern Transport, retiring in 1982. Kermit enjoyed bowling and golfing for many years, and had scored a hole in one at El Zagal Golf Course. He loved to play cards with family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling, mostly visiting his children at several locations. Kermit was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Fargo and also the Fargo VFW and American Legion Posts.He is survived by his wife, Doris, Fargo; 6 children, Bradley, Arlington, TX, Jeffrey, Denver, CO, Cynthia Muhle, Denver, CO, Tracy Shelly and David of Fargo, ND, and Sandra Stuart White, Arlington, TX; a sister, Charlotte Hoff, Reno, NV; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; a sister-in-law, Harriet Engebretson, Pelican Rapids, MN; and several nieces, nephews and very good friends in various places.He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Greg in 1994, a grandson Joshua Muhle in 1996, 2 brothers, Clyde and Richard, and a sister Ethel Stinson.
