Kermit W. Anderson, age 90 of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.Kermit Wayne Anderson was born March 11, 1917, in Greenwood, Township, near Gonvick and Clearbrook, MN, to John Jack and Randene Christensen Anderson. He attended country school and Clearbrook High School and graduated in 1934. He continued his education at Bemidji State College and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in 1939. In August 1938 he was united in marriage with Lorraine Rambol.His teaching career took him to Minnesota schools in Longville, Strandquist, Bagley, and Cass Lake where he was high school principal and coach. He taught science classes at Indus, Oklee and Mountain Iron, where he taught for 20 years. In 1972 he earned a Masters Degree from Oklahoma State University in biological sciences at age 55. Kermit ran a Standard Oil Bulk business and Pure Oil gas station in Bagley for a time, with the help of Lorraine, and a hardware/plumbing business in Cass Lake. He also served as Veterans Service Officer in Clearwater County and was the American Legion commander at Bagley, MN.He served in the Navy in 1945 in Chicago and St. Paul. He was always a loyal Navy man. Over the years, he had several construction jobs and was a capable carpenter. He spent one year in California on carpenter jobs with his brother, Romayne. Kermit retired in 1976 and he and Lorraine moved to Moorhead. In 1978 they began to travel to Arizona for the winters, and enjoyed this for 11 years. Kermit was a dedicated teacher, and showed great concern for his students, in their academic studies and other aspects of their lives. It was his wish that all should have every opportunity possible.Kermit had many interests, including gardening and house remodeling. He improved every house that he lived in, doing nearly all of the work himself. Kermit is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lorraine; daughters Kay Robert Carlson of Fargo, ND, Rondi DuCharme of Denver, CO; and one son, Kermit "Skip" Marilyn Anderson of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren, Jeff and Jacqlyn DuCharme, Kristin, Mark, Karin, Michael and Matthew Anderson; one brother Vincent Frances Anderson of Mesa, AZ and many cherished nieces and nephews. Kermit was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Ferol LJ Lee, Bagley, MN; brothers Reuben, Underwood, MN, Merle, Long Beach, CA and Romayne, Portland, OR.
