Kimberly A. Goehring

Kimberly Allyn Goehring, age 48, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, in her home.Born in Turtle Lake, ND to Quentin and Caryl Ayers Goehring on May 16, 1963. She grew up and attended school in Brandon, MN. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1981. Kim was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon, MN where she taught Sunday school and played the organ. After high school she attended St. Cloud Business School for one year before transferring to Mankato State University, Mankato, MN.She met her life partner, Susan Nelson in April 1987 in Mankato. They moved to Grand Forks, ND for Susan to finish medical school before moving to Fargo, ND in 1992. Kim stayed at home with children until 1999 when they moved to the farm in Moorhead, MN. She managed the farm and home until 2011. She married Dr. Susan Nelson in a civil ceremony on July 11, 2007 in Boston, MA.Kim was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo, ND. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and decorating. She loved to read and collected cookbooks. Kim loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She spent many hours traveling for sporting events where she loved to watch the kids play. Kim was a hockey, soccer and softball mom. She was always there to coordinate potlucks where her cooking was appreciated. Kim had a loving heart and cared deeply for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.She is survived by her wife and partner of 25 years, Dr. Susan Nelson of Moorhead, MN; two daughters, Christine Brent Nelson and Jocelyn Nelson, both of Moorhead, MN; her mother, Caryl Goehring of Moorhead, MN; two brothers, Karl Julie Goehring of Moorhead, MN and Kelly Delene Goehring of Pelican Rapids, MN; three grandchildren, Jakoby, Odessa, and Charley Nelson; nephews, Seth Alicia, Eric, Matthew, Nickolas and Nick; nieces, Tarah, Erin Marshal, Melissa Adam, Elyssa Anthony, Marcy and Jennifer. She was preceded in death by her father, Quentin Goehring, in 2011.
