Kurt L. Benedict

Kurt L. Benedict, 52, of Sabin, MN passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, November 20, 2017. Kurt was born December 1, 1964, to Patrick and Frances (Reis) Benedict. He grew up in Sabin and attended school in Moorhead, graduating in 1982 from Moorhead High School. Following high school, Kurt attended NDSU, then farmed near Sabin with his father and brothers. He worked for RDO Equipment, which brought him to Yuma, AZ, and later to the Monterey, CA area.  He then began his career as an over the road truck driver. Over the years, he enjoyed his time on the road. He took pride in his work and worked hard at it.

Kurt also enjoyed spending time on his motorcycle, including trips to the motorcycle rally in Sturgis, SD.  He loved spending time with friends at the pit, tailgating and watching the Bison. He had a big heart and loved to lend a hand whenever needed. Most of all, however, he loved his time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Kurt is survived by his children, PJ, Christopher, Kayli, Justin and Jacob; granddaughter, Kaliyah; mother, Frances; brothers, Michael (Roberta), Blane (Susan C.), David (Susan M.), Luke (Amy); sisters, Stephanie (Jon) Walter, and Lisa (Scott) Mann; as well as aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews, friends, and his dog, Dallia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick and a sister, Katie.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 30, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral will be Friday, December 1, at 11:00 a.m., in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
