Larry Dale Barbee

Larry Barbee, a beloved father, Paw-Paw, and friend, passed away at the age of 64. In his final days, Larry was surrounded by the four people that meant the most to him. His son, Bubba (Grandan), daughter, Dolly (Leah), Miss Beth, and Rebecca.

Larry had a passion for the outdoors. Hunting in the Black Swamp or “wetting a hook” brought him great joy. He excelled in all sports and relished in the fact that he could still compete with the “young bucks” and show them how it is done. Larry’s love language was to cook, and he delighted in preparing all kinds of meals for family and friends. But above all, Larry cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Larry was known by many nicknames over the years with the most cherished being PawPaw. His infectious laugh and captivating smile brightened the lives of those around him. Larry will be remembered for his Southern accent and his Southern Hospitality along with his unwavering dedication to being the best Daddy.

Larry’s impact extended far beyond his immediate family as he never met a stranger and had the remarkable ability to make a friend wherever he went. In his own simple way, Larry lived by the motto, “It is what it is” up until the very end. He is leaving behind a legacy of compassion, love, and unwavering support for his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Larry is survived by his children, Grandan (Tanya) Barbee and Leah Barbee; and eight grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Anne) Barbee, Gary (Millie) Barbee, and Ruby (Joe) Ewing. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Wilma, Dora, Cora and Diane; brothers, Jimmy, Joe, and Tommy LaBue; parents, Joe Myers and Almiranda (Elle Lee) Barbee.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with a time of sharing beginning at 12:30 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Larry's webpage.
