Leland Elmer Vette, 94, of Fargo, North Dakota was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on November 8, 2021. Leland was born June 10, 1927 in Moorhead, Minnesota to Herman and Alma (Huppe) Vette. He grew up on a farm south of Moorhead. Leland attended Sunnyside School, the MSTC Campus School, and Moorhead High School, graduating in 1944. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo, North Dakota, where he remained a lifetime member.
Leland was united in marriage to Eileen Zuehlke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Britton, South Dakota December 11, 1949. They farmed and raised their family south of Moorhead. They retired in 1990 and moved into Moorhead in 2000. Following the death of Eileen in 2016, Leland moved to the Eventide senior living campus in Fargo.
Leland is survived by one daughter, Deborah (John) Meier of Collinsville, Illinois and one son, Craig of Columbus, Ohio; one granddaughter, Katie (Chris) Schelp of Ponca City, Oklahoma; one grandson, Nicholas (Erika) Meier of Okinawa, Japan; and five great grandchildren, Thomas, Aubrey and Mark Meier, Joy and Lydia Schelp. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert; sister, Helen Boen; and his wife, Eileen.
The funeral will be on Friday, November 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo, with Rev. David Suelzle officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
