Leland "Lee" Wenner, 69, Hitterdal, MN, died on Saturday, April 30, 2011, in Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND.Lee was born on December 21, 1941, in Hawley, MN, to Leonard and Eleanor Hammer Wenner. He grew up and attended school in Hitterdal, MN, graduating from Hitterdal High School before attending Moorhead State College in Moorhead, MN. Lee married Shirley Sauvageau on July 27, 1974, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo, ND, and they made their home on the Wenner family farm near Hitterdal. He worked for Ed Welle Construction for many years and then American Crystal Sugar Company until retiring in 2006. Lee was devoted to his family, wife Shirley and daughter Jaime and loved being with them at family events. Lee was an avid sports fan following all Ulen-Hitterdal high school sports, as well as the University of Minnesota and the Twins. He loved to golf and play softball and had played on the Ulen VFW team. Lee was known for his patient manner.He is survived by his wife, Shirley, Hitterdal, MN; daughter Jaime Wenner, Moorhead, MN; sister Barb Ray Flint, Dilworth, MN; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lyle.
