Lennie E. Henslin

Lennie Olsen Henslin, age 94, of Lake Park, MN, died Saturday, August 29, 2009, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN, surrounded by her family. Lennie Esther Olsen was born on December 28, 1914 to Thor and Mary Meyer Olsen in Truman, MN. Lennie's family included two brother and two sisters, three step brothers and three step sisters. Lennie was baptized and confirmed at Waverly Lutheran Church in Truman, MN. She graduated from Truman High School in 1933. In 1936, Lennie married Lorin Henslin in Truman, MN. Together they had two children, Gerald and Beverly. Lorin and Lennie moved to Lake Park, MN in 1948 and operated the Tip Top Café in Lake Park. Lorin died in 1982, her son, Gerald, died in 1996. Lennie was very active in Lake Park during her 94 years of life. She owned her own mercantile store, "Lennies." She later worked for Holmgren's Red Owl for 17 years. Lennie was an active member of Lake Park Lutheran Church in which she was a member for 61 years. She was a leader in WELCA, Quilters, Eastern Star, Homemakers and Senior Club. Lennie will best be remembered for her strong spirit in the Lord and life. She was best at making kringles, playing cards, winning at Rummikub, driving her car and playing her player piano. She also enjoyed crafts of all sorts, including hardanger embroidery, handmade Christmas ornaments, art items with vintage jewelry and quilting; watching baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins, and watching tennis. Lennie will be truly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly and son-in-law Joe Wilson of Plano, TX; sister, Agnes Briethbarth of Truman, MN; sister-in-law, Edlin Olsen of Detroit Lakes, MN and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lorin, her son Gerald, sister, Grace Miller, two brothers, Lawrence Olsen and Tory Olsen, three step brothers and three step sisters.
