Leroy Knutson

LeRoy C. Knutson, 71, of Hawley, Minnesota, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in his home, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. LeRoy was born May 4, 1939 in Hawley, Minnesota, to Clifford and Ruth Norman Knutson. He grew up and attended rural country school and later attended school in Hawley. At age sixteen he moved to Montana with his uncle where he worked on a ranch. He later returned to Hawley and worked with his Father at the City of Hawley. He also worked at the Lefse Plant in Lake Park, MN. LeRoy married Doris Vanway. Together they had two children, Loren of Hawley, MN, and Sue Jim Thompson of Sherwood, ND. He worked for Ames Sand and Gravel Company as a truck driver. LeRoy married Eva Carlson. He had two step-children with Eva, Tammy Troy Cunningham and Jim Carlson. LeRoy married Ann Hildebrandt on August 15, 1987 in Hawley, Minnesota. He inherited four children, Patti Ressler of LaMoure, ND, Lea Pat Bencker of Hawley, MN, Guy Amanda Hildebrandt of Bemidji, MN and Roy Hildebrandt of Rutland, ND. LeRoy was recently employed at Wal-Mart in Moorhead, MN. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ruth Knutson, his grandparents, sister, Bonnie Jensen, and brother, Kenneth Knutson. He is survived by his wife, Ann Knutson of Hawley, MN; sons, Loren, Guy and Roy; daughters, Sue, Patti and Lea; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild; and many, many extended family.
