Lester E. Hanson

Lester E. Hanson, 83, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND. Lester was born July 31, 1925, to Henry and Mary Syverson Hanson in Ulen, MN. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Ulen. Following high school, he worked at Flom Creamery. In 1956, he began work at Cass Clay Creamery. On November 7, 1959, he married Shirley Jorgenson in Rustad, MN. Together they made their home in Moorhead and raised three children. Lester was a regular church usher and active volunteer for the Boy Scouts. He worked for Cass Clay Creamery for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987. He then worked for Syncor part time until 1997. Lester enjoyed traveling and gardening, but most of all loved spending time with family. He will be greatly missed.Lester is survived by his wife, Shirley; children Sheri Strom, Fargo; Jeffrey Rachel Hanson, Moorhead; and Keith Hope Hanson, Fargo; grandchildren Cody Strom, Brett Hanson, Jay Hanson, Austen Strom and Ella Hanson; sister Ethel John Dabill, Fargo; sister-in-law Doris McDowell, Dilworth, MN; brother-in-law Roger Carol Jorgenson of Denver, CO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Jim McDowell.
