Lila Ruth Drenkow Ordal died on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Eventide Lutheran Home. She was born in 1924 in Hull, Iowa, to Ernest and Wilhemina Drenkow. Lila graduated from high school in 1942 in Mitchell, South Dakota where she was active in music and journalism. She graduated from Augustana College in 1946 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she taught music and also married Norman Vollie Waldemar Ordal in 1947. They would move to St. Peter, Minnesota where Vollie owned a jewelry store and Lila worked at Gustavus Adolphus. Lila and Vollie moved to Moorhead, Minnesota in 1954 where they had two sons. Vollie died in 1961. Lila was employed as a librarian in the Moorhead School District from 1964-1990.After her retirement, Lila enjoyed her 6 grandchildren, listening to public radio, volunteering at the diabetes center and following the Minnesota Twins. It is perhaps fortunate that she was unable to watch the current series with the New York Yankees…Lila is survived by her two sons: Todd Catherine Ordal of Boulder, Colorado and their children Michael, Katherine, Alicia and Daniel; and Craig Elizabeth Ordal of Shoreview, Minnesota and their children Kristen and Sara. The family would like to thank Lila's devoted friends and the marvelous people from the MeritCare Diabetes Center and Eventide Nursing Home for all of their support and kindness. A celebration of Lila's life is planned for 2:00 on Saturday, October 17 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.In lieu of flower or gifts, please consider memorials to the MeritCare Foundation for the benefit of the Diabetes Center.
