Lillian Krogen

Lillian Krogen, 82, Lake Park, MN, died February 29, 2020 under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Lillian Elizabeth Johnson was born May 18, 1937 in Cormorant Township to Oscar and Anna (Knudtson) Johnson.  She grew up in Lake Park and graduated from high school there in 1955. Lillian married Jerome Krogen on June 22, 1957 and they made their home in rural Lake Park where they raised their 6 children.  Over the years Lillian worked for Fashion Cleaners and Lake Park Laundromat and Cleaners as well as cleaning for many area residents.  Most of all, she enjoyed her role as a caretaker for many people as she drove them to appointments.

Lillian enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking bars and many types of crafts.  She was a member of Park Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary of Lake Park and she especially enjoyed Sunday night Bingo at the Lake Park Legion.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Lloyd) Ness, Lake Park, MN, Kim (Darrell) Gunnarson, Hawley, MN, Kristie Marotzke, Isanti, MN, and Korey (Julie Mortenson) Krogen, Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Krogen, Lake Park, MN; siblings, Vivian Wittnebel, Detroit Lakes, MN,  Alice Schwedrsky, Pelican Rapids, MN, Connie (Max) Baer, Audubon, MN, Donnie Johnson, Tomah, WI, Clifford (Vicky) Johnson, Stacy, MN, Ruth (Tom) Noson, Chisholm, MN and Kitty (Jim)Nyhus, Chisholm, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome; her daughter, Karen; her son, Keith; her brother, Norman and her sister, Adeline.

Thank you to the staff of Emmanuel Nursing Home for welcoming Lill into your family and always making her smile.  She loved all of you.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley. A memorial service will be Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Park Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN. Burial will take place at Park Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.
