Lisa M. Golkowski, age 54, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, in Innovis Health Systems, Fargo, ND.Lisa Marie Golkowski was born December 22, 1954 in California to Rudolph and Pauline Dallmann Golkowski. Lisa grew up in Hawley, MN where she graduated from high school in 1973. She was an accomplished piano player and was an organist for the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hawley for many years. She also worked side by side with her dad who owned and operated the Hawley Bakery.Lisa went on to earn a degree at Concordia College and graduated in 1977. Soon after, she became the gift accountant at Concordia College where she remained for 31 years. For 15 years Lisa was an avid bowler at Sunset Lanes in Moorhead and served as treasurer for her league. She also spent time out on the area golf courses. When not participating in a sport or working, Lisa loved to read books and even do some of her own writing. She could come up with some very unique and fun poems tailored just for the person she intended them for. Lisa had a great sense of humor, and she would use it on folks in fun ways. Lisa loved birds and had her own special birds at home over the years, Recently, Lisa also had a miniature horse named after her after she helped the little rescue horse get the care it needed. Over the past ten years, one of the highlights of each Christmas Eve has been opening gifts over the phone with her cousin Lynn and husband, Brian. What fun it has been to share the laughter, surprises, and anticipation of gifts as if we were all gathered around the same Christmas tree!Every summer for 23 years Lisa traveled to Western North Dakota to stay a week or two on the ranch with Lynn, Brian, the horses, the cats, the dog, and any Badlands wildlife that might show up. Lisa had a special horse named Anja and a cat named Target to call her own while she visited. Lisa was always called into action to bake her super chocolate chip cookies. No cookies were baked, however, until Lisa had watched her soapies each day. In return Lynn cooked Lisa's favorite dishes like crab salad, torsk, etc. and served up a family turkey dinner like our mom's made when we were kids when our families got together for the holidays. Spending those days out West each summer seemed to energize Lisa, and friends would comment on how relaxed and happy Lisa was when she would return to Moorhead. Lisa had a big heart and was a generous giver to those less fortunate. Her best friends and family will dearly miss her. Lisa is survived mostly by cousins and both sides of her family and her wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and some aunts and uncles.
