Lloyd Andrew Tabery went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 2013, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s.
Lloyd was born October 3, 1925 to Andrew and Hazel Pilger Tabery at Wadena, MN. After completing his education in Staples, MN, he entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, MN, on June 17, 1944. He served with Company A, 46th Armored Infantry 5th Battalion during WWII in the European theatre. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star medal and Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Lloyd began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1946 and retired as a Brakeman/Conductor for the B.N.R.R. Burlington Northern Railroad in 1987. He was an officer and active member of NARVE.
On September 9, 1950, he married Ethel Jacobson Parker of Staples, MN. They were blessed to be united together for 49 years. He loved being a husband, father and grandpa.
Lloyd enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and gardening.
He will be remembered for his faith, smile and contagious sense of humor.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Joan Wayne Zimmerman of Ulen, MN, Linda Lyle Dahl, George Charlene Parker, Michael Tabery all of Moorhead, MN, Carol Jerry Willits of Rapid City, SD, Lillian Jerry Stromberg of East Gull Lake, MN; two brothers, Gerald of Fargo, ND, Phillip Anne of Eveleth, MN; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two infant children, and parents.
Visitation: Tuesday, April 9, 2013, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.
Interment: Evergreen Cemetery, Staples, MN.
