Lloyd Emerson Fossum

Lloyd Emerson Fossum of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on March 1^st, 2018 at the Veterans Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Lloyd was born August 8^th, 1926, in Fargo to Julius and Hanna (Nelson) Fossum. He spent his early years in Flaxton, ND, before moving to Gardner, ND. He graduated from Oak Grove High School in Fargo. After graduating, Lloyd farmed with his parents north of Moorhead near Kragnes where he met the love of his life, Patricia Simonson. They were married on April 24^th, 1953.

In 1954, Lloyd was drafted into the Army where he was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA, in Division Headquarters. While stationed there, their daughter Diana was born. After his army service, Lloyd and Pat returned to Kragnes where they continued farming and raising their daughter and three sons.

Lloyd’s passion was always farming. He also enjoyed the summer weekends at Cotton Lake fishing and spending time with family and friends and feeding his favorite chipmunk! Lloyd and Pat enjoyed spending a few weeks in the winter traveling to warmer destinations. Lloyd was also involved with the Kragnes Township Board, Clay County Planning Commission, Clay Co. Crop Improvement, C400, the Grover Club, Moorhead Technical College Advisory Committee, bowling leagues and was active with Oak Mound Church committees and the pancake feeds that were held there.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Diana (David) Hagens, Larry (Patty Hanson), Paul (Sherri), Mark; brother, Lowel (Dixie); 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy; sister, Ardella; and special grandson, Dakota “Cody” Fossum.

The family would like to thank everyone for the kind words and thoughts, and the staff at Hospice and the VA hospital for the special care he received there.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 12^th, 2018, at 11 am at North Buffalo Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Inurnment will be held at Oak Mound Cemetery, rural Kragnes, at a later date.
