Lloyd William Anderson

Lloyd Anderson of Hawley, MN, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019, in Eventide Sheyenne Crossing Care Center in West Fargo, ND.

Lloyd was born on May 17, 1929, to Albin and Bertha Anderson. He was raised on a farm near Hawley, MN, attended rural country school, and finished his high school years, graduating from Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. He married Caryel R. “Kelly” Olson of Hitterdal, MN in 1951. Kelly passed away in 2002. Lloyd farmed until his retirement and in his early farming years raised dairy cattle. He and his wife were also involved in teen and adult foster care of which they were recognized by the state for their distinguished service. Lloyd was an active member of Highland Grove Lutheran Church and Hawley Lutheran Church. He moved to Serenity Assisted Living in Dilworth, MN, in 2012. He moved to Sheyenne Crossing Care Center in 2017.

He loved listening to music, watching the news channels on television, watching farming YouTube videos on his computer, and playing bingo. He was very proud of the five children he raised.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Kelly, of 51 years, his parents, and two sisters. Lloyd is survived by his sons, Mark (Judy) and John (Michelle) Anderson of Hawley, MN, and Dan (Stephanie) Anderson of Kirksville, MO; daughters, Marcia (Tim) Stout and Chris (Kevin) Berg, both of Hawley; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Frances Killmer, Winchester, VA, Rose (Ray) Kessler, St. Charles, IL, and Julie Albright, Des Moines, IA; and one brother, Richard Anderson, Jordan, MN.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN. Final resting place will be at Highland Grove Cemetery, Hitterdal, MN, at a later date.
