Lois Ellen Wyland

Lois Ellen (Wentland) Wyland, 94, of Dilworth, MN, passed away March 18, 2022, at her home in Dilworth, MN, surrounded by her family.

Lois was born to Paul and Gladys (Munroe) Wentland in Fosston, MN, on December 7, 1927. They moved to Hawley, MN, where she attended school until World War II when the family moved to Michigan where her father worked building the B-24 bombers. In 1944, she was a lifeguard at Buffalo River State Park where German war prisoners came to swim. She also met her future husband, Gordon Wyland, at Buffalo River State Park. She graduated from from high school in Ypsilanti, MI, in 1945. Lois worked at Kaiser Frazier Company until marrying Gordon on July 25, 1949. The couple moved to Glyndon, MN, where she was a homemaker. Later, Lois worked at the Glyndon High School as a Librarian Aid for 14 years. Lois and Gordy had two sons, Paul Gordon and Douglas Blair.

Lois was an active member at Glyndon Lutheran Church. She loved music, sang in the church choir, and was a Sunday school teacher. She also enjoyed quilting with the church group.

Lois and Gordy retired, in the winter to Mesa, AZ, and in the summer to their Lake Eunice cabin. She loved her family of Paul and Doug. They also enjoyed the wonderful family times and memories at the lake.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Gladys; sisters, Nyla Mae, Margret, and Mary Lou; husband, Gordon; son, Douglas; and grandson, Troy. She is survived by her son, Paul; grandchildren, Kandi (Jayme) Thompson, Nicole (Derrick) Bollea, Veronica Wyland, and Jennifer (Steven) Reinhold; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Cole, Kailyn, Ashly, Kendall, Evelynn, Tylor, Alyssa, Carl, and Grace.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Glyndon Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN.
