Lois M. Peterson

Lois M. Peterson, 83, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, December 11, 2010, in Sanford Health Palliative Care, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.Lois Sandland was born on August 2, 1927, in Moorhead, MN, to Otto and Lucille Gardner Sandland. She grew up and attended school at Glyndon, MN. She went to work for Western Union and lived in Chicago, IL, for short time before returning to Moorhead, where she met and married Howard E. Peterson on December 31, 1947. They made their home in Moorhead where Howard and his sons operated Sportland. Lois had worked at Sears in customer service in the catalog department for twenty years. She was a busy homemaker, raising a large and loving family. She loved the outdoors and gardening and was known for her positive outlook on life. Howard died on January 22, 1993.Lois is survived by her sons, Doug Susan, Fargo, ND, Richard, Paradise Valley, AZ, Jack Kay, Moorhead, Rodney, Fargo, Bill Bonnie, Moorhead; daughters, Marsha George Shortridge, Brooklyn Park, MN, Nancy Michael Davidson, Fargo, and Virginia Sievers, Lawrenceville, GA; brothers, Roy Margaret Sandland, Plymouth Meeting, PA, Gordon Sharon Sandland, Moorhead, John Vonnie Sandland, Fargo; sisters, Beverly Anstadt, Moorhead, Kathryn Roger Metcalf, Glyndon, MN, Rosemary Edward Dallman, Fargo, and Carolyn Kenneth Brogren, Rasburg, OR; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, a brother Joseph, and a sister Donna Metcalf.
