Loren C. “Mick” Messerschmidt

Loren C. “Mick” Messerschmidt, 81, Glyndon, MN, died on Thursday, March 6, 2014, in Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.
Loren was born on September 4, 1932, in Glyndon, MN, to Edward and Clara Brush Messerschmidt. He grew up and attended school there. He entered the U.S. Army on December 9, 1952 and served in Alaska with a tank company, 4th Infantry, until 1954. He returned to Glyndon.
Loren married Mary Wayman in 1957 and they had three children together and later divorced.
He went to work for Kost Brothers in 1957 and worked there until retiring in 1995. Loren married Gail Anderson on May 25, 1972, in Barnesville, MN, and they have made their home in Glyndon ever since.
He loved his children and grandchildren, his buddy “Rascal”, and the Vikings, Twins, Bison and Nascar. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Loren is survived by his wife, Gail Messerschmidt, Glyndon, MN; two sons Brian Barb Messerschmidt, Glyndon, MN, and Keith Messerschmidt, Fargo, ND; a daughter Tracy Dale Bercier, Horace, ND; two brothers Robert Messerschmidt, Glyndon, MN, and Gordie Tonya Messerschmidt, Avondale, AZ; one sister Clarene Ed Butenhoff, Moorhead, MN; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers George, Roy and Ed; and his sister-in-law Ardyce Messerschmidt.
Loren’s family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo for the compassionate care that they offered to Loren.
Memorial Gathering: Monday, March 10, 2014, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Memorial Service: Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 1:30 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
