Loren O. Rude

Loren O. Rude, 64, of Moorhead, MN passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Loren Orvin Rude was born to Orvin and Joyce (Sander) Rude on June 18, 1954, in Moorhead, MN.  He grew up in Glyndon, MN, and was a part of the wrestling team as well as a member of the choir for Glyndon-Felton High School, where he graduated from in 1972.  He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Moorhead State.

Loren’s passion for music stayed with him throughout his life.  He was involved in several productions with the F-M Opera Company as well as a member of an F-M community boys’ choir, under the direction of Dan Preston.  He was a life-long sports fan and enjoyed baseball, basketball and football.  He was also active in the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion for many years.

On August 14, 2010, Loren married Kitty Colby at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo and they made their home in Moorhead.  He had been working for Roers Construction since 2004.

Loren is survived by his wife and their dog, Jaxson; sisters, Valerie (Mike) Luhman and Lorelee (Ryan) Benz; nieces and nephews, Chad Luhman, Heather Luhman, Amanda (Erick) Counts, Daniel (Bridget Medbery) Luhman, Brian, Bernadette and Brigid O’Keefe, Neil and Adam Colby, DeAnna Stalboerger, Lynsy Truhlicka, Marcia, Freddy and Eric Colby and great-nephew, Ben Counts.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 2:30 PM at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be in Grong Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rollag, MN in the spring.
