Lorraine B. Beckman

Lorraine B. Beckman, 84, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, November 23, 2013, in Bethany on University, Fargo, ND.
Lorraine Bernice Beckman was born December 28, 1928, to Carl and Elsie Abbe Woker in Steele County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden, MN. She attended school in Owatonna, MN, graduating from high school in 1946. After graduating she worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone for several years.
In 1949 Lorraine was united in marriage to Kenneth Beckman in Owatonna. They were blessed with three daughters and she was a homemaker while her children were growing up.
They moved to Alexandria, MN, in 1964 and became members of Zion Lutheran Church. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Washington School for more than twenty years. She was active in Zion’s Altar Guild and Evening Guild. She also volunteered in the Douglas County Hospital gift shop. Lorraine enjoyed bowling, watching Twins baseball, and cooking and baking for her family. Her grandchildren were special to her.
Kenneth passed away in 2004, and in 2008 she moved to Moorhead, MN, to be near family.
Lorraine is survived by her three daughters, Jolene Beckman Fred Sternhagen, Moorhead, MN, Brenda Beckman Michael Studer, St. Louis Park, MN, and Barbara Beckman Joe Allen of Moorhead; two grandchildren, Nick Sternhagen and Rachel Sternhagen; a sister Louise Sheets of Chester, Virginia; a brother Glen Claudia Woker, St. Paul, MN; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN, Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, the Humane Society, or the donor’s choice.
Memorial Service: Wednesday, 10:30 A.M,. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Friends may gather for one hour before the service.
Final Resting Place: Wednesday, 2:30 P.M., in the Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, MN.
