Louis E. Swetland

Louis Edward was born on November 3, 1929 in Detroit Lakes, MN to George and Ethel Swetland. He grew up on a farm near Richwood, MN where he attended country school. Louis entered the Army during the Korean War. After the service, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Midwest Excavating, Moorhead, MN. Louis married Floretta DeGroat and together they had two children, Kathy and Dean. After Floretta's death, he married Phyllis McCollum. Louis enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Norris Tufte, Audubon, MN; four grandchildren, Chad Erica Bice, Edmonds, WA, Heather Darren Shaw, Barnesville, MN, Melissa Swetland, Seattle, WA and Nathan Emily Swetland, Bremerton, WA; six great-grandchildren, Alaxandra, Rylee, Madison, Mason, Seth and Brooklyn; nephew, Stan Swetland, Moorhead, MN; his son's companion, Tara Olstad, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Floretta and Phyllis; son, Dean; brothers, Earl and Percy; and sister, Alice Dickson.
