Louis Eugene Frank Gruenberg

Louis Eugene Frank Gruenberg, age 102, died Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Louis was born March 24, 1921, near Kent, MN, to Herman and Clara (Mittendorf) Gruenberg.  He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Mitchell Township.  He attended school near Kent and Wolverton, MN. He worked for several farms near Comstock and Wolverton.  On March 25, 1944, Louis was united in marriage to Betty Berglund in Comstock, MN. For 40 years they farmed near Wolverton and built a house in Wolverton in 1963.  They retired from farming in 1984 and moved to Fargo in 1989.

Louis was a volunteer fireman for 13 years and served on the Wolverton City Council for 15 years. Louis and Betty joined Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton on May 19, 1975, and Louis served on the Faith Lutheran Church Board for 6 years.

Louis enjoyed farming and after he retired, he loved to spend time growing flowers.  He also loved to listen to music, and he enjoyed baking cookies and serving them during church fellowship hour.  In 1984 they bought a cottage on Pelican Lake and the family enjoyed spending time at the lake for several years. 

Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents and 5 brothers: Alvin, A.W. (Buster), Robert, Harold, and Leonard, and 5 sisters: LaVonne Gruenberg, Evelyn Marohl, Loretta Plummer, Dorothy Marohl and Florence Froselie.

 His memory will forever be cherished by his surviving family members:  daughters, Linda (Mike) Goodejohn, Anacortes, WA and Gail (Patrick) Irsfeld, Miltona, MN; grandchildren, Jill (John) Bouratoglou, Kelly (Erik Anderson) Goodejohn, Nancy Clemensen, Angela (Carlton) Lance, Christopher (Kristianne) Irsfeld, and Sara (Tom) Voll, and great-grandchildren, Max Bouratoglou (Madison), Julian Bouratoglou, Belle Clemensen, Portia Clemensen, Hazel Anderson, Dottie, Anderson, Christopher Irsfeld, Trey Lance, Emma Irsfeld, Bryce Lance, Benjamin Irsfeld, Luke Voll, Bryn Voll and Ella Voll. 

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation for one hour before the service, at Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton, MN. Interment will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Wolverton.
