Louis Nordick, 85, of Moorhead, died on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Eventide Lutheran Home.
Louis Leroy Nordick was born June 9, 1929, in Breckenridge, MN to Louis and Elizabeth DeBoever Nordick. He attended country school until 8th grade and then graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1948. On July 8, 1952 he married Elaine Krump and they made their home in various rural Minnesota communities including Kent, Breckenridge, and Rothsay, finally moving to Moorhead in 1980.
Louie worked in farming most of his life, but retired from full-time farming before moving to Moorhead. He was a co-owner of Red River Trails bus company for 5 years and also worked part-time for a farmer. He retired finally in 2005 and then began to enjoy having coffee with his friends twice a day. He continued his love for farming by collecting toy tractors and just driving around the countryside checking on farms.
Louie is survived by his wife, Elaine, his children, Jeff Lynette Starin Nordick, Rick Nordick, Sandy Rob Prestidge Nordick, Grant Karen Moore Nordick, Sally Jim Wagner, Kay Carlsrud, and Randy “Bud” Kathy Nordick. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brother Ralph and sister Ruth. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Bradley, his granddaughter, Lahra Peterson and siblings Leonard, Warren, Alvin and Grace.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead. Interment will be in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church cemetery in Elizabeth, MN at a later date.
