Louise Florence Grant

Louise Florence (Bong) Grant, 98, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019, in Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN.

Louise was born on March 20, 1921, to John and Esther (Larson) Bong in Culver, MN. She graduated from high school in Alborn, MN in 1939, the same year she met George Grant. They were united in marriage on May 29, 1940, in Minot, ND. They traveled through several states for George’s work on the railroad.

After adopting their first son, Gary, she lived in Culver, MN while George served overseas during WWII. Following the war, they lived in Minneapolis where they had their second son, Douglas. Railroad life took them to Helena, MT; Minot, ND; and Whitefish, MT where they retired.

After retirement, they traveled the US in an RV covering nearly all the states including two trips to Alaska. They eventually built a house and settled in Moorhead, MN.

Louise was a talented painter, quilter, and did many forms of needlework. A tireless volunteer, she loved helping with Lutheran World Relief quilting at Trinity in Moorhead and St. John’s in Fargo. She was a beautiful loving grandmother, wonderful mother, a generous friend, and immaculate homemaker.

Louise is survived by her son, Doug (Charlotte) Grant; grandchildren, Christopher (Jen) Grant, Stephanie (Perry) Kennedy, and Michael Grant; great-grandchildren, Avery, Megan, Aiden, Reagan, Kieran, and Keaton; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, George; son, Gary; parents, John and Esther; 6 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Moorhead, MN, following the service.
