Lowell A. Lysaker, 82, Moorhead, MN, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at his lake cabin near Park Rapids, MN.Lowell Lysaker was born on September 14, 1925, in Hitterdal, MN, to Almer and Lena Nelson Lysaker. He grew up and attended school at Twin Valley, where he was active in sports, including basketball, football, baseball and track. He graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1943. Active in scouting for many years, he had achieved Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. He was a camp counselor for many years at Camp Wilderness. He enjoyed woodcarving and beekeeping, and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Lowell enlisted in the Army in 1944 and served in Germany for fifteen months. Following his service he enrolled in Concordia College in Moorhead, graduating with a degree in sociology in 1950. He received a Masters degree in Counseling from North Dakota State University. He worked for the North Dakota and Minnesota Departments of Human Services until retiring. Lowell married Mavis Sunde on January 12, 1957, in Trinity Lutheran Church, in Moorhead and they made their home in Moorhead.Lowell is survived by his wife, Mavis Lysaker, Moorhead; daughter Randi Brad Newton of Plymouth, MN, and their children Casey, Courtney and Chelsea; daughter Sue Lysaker and her children Calvin and Sydney Johnson; son Karl Nancy Lysaker and their children Hanna and Morgan; daughter Maria Jamie Peterson and her children, Sierra and Ashley; sisters, LaVerne Keith Birk, Hawley, MN, and LouAnn Troubridge, Moorhead.
