Lowell H. Larson, 83, of Glyndon, MN, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. Lowell was born on March 27, 1933 in Hawley, MN to Oscar and Aquina Halvorson Larson. He attended Hawley High School and from there joined the Navy in April of 1952. He was proud to have achieved the rank of Gunners Mate Mount 2 on the U.S.S. Albany and retired from the Navy in April of 1956. Lowell married Mary Keeping on August 17, 1962 in Hawley, MN at the Hawley Methodist Church. Lowell owned and operated his own trucking company, ‘Lowell H. Larson Trucking’. He also drove for many other trucking companies throughout his life and he retired from Elliott Transportation in Moorhead, MN in 2011. In 2008, he achieved the North Dakota Truck Driver of the year, having driven over 1 million miles with no accidents. Lowell was a proud member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was also one of the original members of the Hawley Golden Riders and a member of the Glyndon Felton school board for many years.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Mary; Daughters, Candace Bruce Rosenfeldt, and Kami Tim McClaflin; Grandchildren, Nicole and Hunter Rosenfeldt, Kyla Tad Walker, Kelsi and Kaitlyn McClaflin, Great-Grandchildren, Connor, Madysen, and Jaxton Walker; Brothers, Keith Kay Larson, Neil Lois Larson, and Kermit Sharon Larson; Sisters, Charlene Duane Romer, Sharon McDougall, and June Russell Burnside; Sister-In-Law, Dolores Larson. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jerry, Wayne, and Roger; and Brother-In-Law, Waldo McDougall.
Visitation: Sunday, January 15, from 5-7PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00PM at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN.
Funeral: Monday, January 16, at 11AM at Glyndon Lutheran Church in Glyndon, MN
Interment: Will take place at a later date in the spring at Silver Lake Cemetery.
