Lucille M. Riegel

Lucille Margaret Riegel, 100 of Bagley, MN, died Tuesday November 10, 2015 at Cornerstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bagley, MN.

Lucille was born June 19, 1915 in Frazee, MN, the daughter of William and Francesca Heim Rabanus. She attended school in Frazee until the family moved to Detroit, MI; then to Perley, MN; then to Argusville, ND. She helped on the family farms by working in the cook car. As the farm grew, more help was needed. She was sent to town to find more help, and one of the people she selected was Leo, who would later become her husband. On October 24, 1943 she married Leo Riegel at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. After their marriage, she continued to help on the farm by delivering milk and eggs to Fargo. She also drove grain trucks for her brother-in-law, Adolph Henke. She and her niece once entered a singing contest, in which they won second place for their rendition of “You Are My Sunshine”. She belonged to the German Club, helped the Handicapped Club, and the Teamsters. She also attended the Senior Center and enjoyed it very much. In 2002 she moved to Bemidji to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Douglas Lilleby. In 2003 she moved to Cornerstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bagley, MN. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo.

She is survived by one daughter, Marlene Douglas Lilleby, Bemidji, MN; one grandson, Clayton Maureen Lilleby, Lake Park, MN; three great-grand children, Ian, Rianna, and Tristan Lilleby, Lake Park, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her eight brothers and sisters and their spouses. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by those who knew her. Blessed be her memory.

Visitation: Saturday, November 14, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., in Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.

Funeral: Saturday, November 14, at 2:00 p.m., in Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
