Lucille Marie "Lucy" Solberg

Lucille Marie (Mooridian) “Lucy” Solberg, 94, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Eventide on 8th Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN.

Lucy was born on March 25, 1930, to George and Clara (Schaeffer) Mooridian in Eldridge, ND. She grew up in Eldridge, ND, where she attended school. She then attended and graduated from Jamestown High School in Jamestown, ND. She moved to Bismarck where she stayed with her aunt and uncle and worked at Sweetheart Bakery as a clerk/typist from 1948-1949.

Lucy was united in marriage to Alfred Solberg on October 9, 1949, in Fargo, ND. They moved to Fargo while Alfred attended Business School. After Alfred began his business, Edling Electric, they moved to Moorhead, MN, where they built their first house in a cornfield. Lucy stayed busy taking care of the house, doing the yardwork, and more importantly, raising their two children. After Alfred retired, they moved to a condo in Fargo where they lived for nearly 40 years. They also had a condo in Detroit Lakes, MN, that they enjoyed spending time at. Lucy moved into Eventide Care Center where she has lived ever since.

Lucy enjoyed gardening, mowing and taking care of the lawn, and was always cleaning. She was a loving, kind, and simple woman who was very independent and a great friend to many. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be sorely missed.

Lucy is survived by her children, Marsha (Grant) Weyland and Wayne (Becky) Solberg; grandchildren, Sara (James) Weyland Ford and Ryan Solberg; great-grandchildren, Sidney and Ashlee Ford; special friend, Eileen Birchfield; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred; parents, George and Clara; and her siblings, George, Della, John, and Marian.

A special thank you from Lucy's family to the caregivers on 3rd floor at Eventide for their care, love, and support to Lucy during her time at Eventide. We appreciate all you have done, especially in her final days.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 1:00 P.M., at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND, all are invited. A time of gathering with family and friends will follow at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN, at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Great Plains Food Bank and/or Church's United for the Homeless.
