Luella M. Jacobson Steinbach, 97, Hitterdal, MN, died July 17, 2015 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.
Luella May was born June 21, 1918 at the Tvete farm to Alfred E. and Grace M. Williamson Tvete at LaMoure, ND. Luella grew up on the farm where she developed a love for horses. She attended school in LaMoure and graduated in 1938. She married Carroll O. Jacobson, a farmer from LaMoure on June 1, 1941. They farmed at LaMoure, ND, Frazee and Hitterdal, MN. After the death of her first husband in 1976 she worked for her son Larry until her marriage to Richard Steinbach on December 11, 1982. They farmed and raised Morgan horses at New Rockford, ND until his death in 2008.
During her life she was active in Minnesota and North Dakota Farmers Union, 4-H leader, Sweet Adelines, church and church choir, a master gardener for Eddy County, Ombudsman at the nursing home in New Rockford, raised and showed Morgan horses and was active in the North Dakota Morgan Horse Association. She showed her Morgan stallion Bonnie Lee Shane at the North Dakota State Fair from 1985-2006. She loved to make church and jean quilts and crochet.
Survived by three children, Larry Regina Jacobson, Hitterdal, Carolyn Juell, Hitterdal and Lynnette Gerald Zeiszler, Malmo NE, two sisters Ruth Conrad Sanden, Wyndmere, ND and Grace Don Beck, Detroit Lakes, MN, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Gathering: Monday, July 20, 2015 from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN.
Memorial Service: Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN.
Interment will be at a later date in Rosehill Cemetery, LaMoure, ND.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal.
