Luella M. Smyers

Luella Mae Smyers, 98, passed away May 15, 2010 to spend her 73rd wedding anniversary with her husband, Frank Smyers. She was residing in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota at the time. Luella was born September 15, 1911 in East Chicago, Indiana, the daughter of Ruby and Willis Roe. She graduated from East Chicago Washington High School and attended Valparaiso University. Luella married Frank Smyers on May 15, 1937 and they raised their family in Munster, Indiana. She sang in Farrar Chorale Club, her church choir, and enjoyed playing golf and bridge.Luella is survived by her daughter, Shirley Carley of Pelican Rapids, MN; her grandchildren, Dane Carley, Todd Carley, Mike Rybicki and Shawn Rybicki; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her daughter, Barbara Rybicki, and two sisters.
