Luther “Bubba”, “Wally” Martin Wallace Jr. passed away Friday 17 July 2015.
Luther was born 4 August 1938 in Columbia, SC. to Luther M. Wallace Sr. and Thadus R. Wallace. He graduated from Brooklyn-Cayce High School in 1956. He then went on to study architecture at Clemson University in Clemson, SC. After Clemson he then went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He met and married Donna M. Aune now former spouse while stationed in Colorado. Luther worked for the airlines and Southern Bell Telephone before going back to college and getting a degree in Criminal Justice. He was with the Columbia Police Department in Columbia, SC before going on to opening Wallace Detective Agency. He had many hobbies including fishing, jeweler, gemologist and intricate woodworking, all of which he enjoyed teaching and showing kids. He especially enjoyed teaching and showing his woodworking and gemology skills in local hospitals and schools. He valued his service to his country and was proud of his kids and grandkids, he had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke.
He is survived by his children, Patrick E. Wallacewife Lori, Wayne H. Wallace and Pam M. Herbstritt husband Lane, seven grandchildren and his sister Carolyn Luker husband James. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Chris M. Wallace.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project. Luther will be laid to rest at Olympia Cemetery in Columbia, SC at a later date.
