Lyle E. Dahlgren, 84, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at home under the care of family and Sanford Hospice. Lyle was born in Detroit Lakes, MN, on April 19, 1936, to Ernest and Emily (Anderson) Dahlgren. He grew up on the family farm south of Lake Park and attended country school. Lyle graduated from Lake Park High School before continuing his education in Agronomy at the University of Minnesota. Following high school, Lyle served in the Army Reserves. In April of 1963, he married Janet Sink in Indiana. Together they made their home on the family farm and started a family. Lyle took pride in farming and enjoyed staying active in the community. In 2007, the Red River Valley Development Association awarded Lyle and Janet the Valley Farm and Homemaker Award. He was the past President of the Becker County Farm Bureau, and was also a member of Strandvik Lutheran Church where, over the years, he was involved in several committees.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Brian (Susan) Dahlgren; daughter, Heidi (Chris) Cain; six grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Julie Dahlgren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Dahlgren.
Visitation is open to public. If you would like to attend the church service, please call and leave a message or text your request to 218-234-6277 by Wednesday Jan 6th. Due to covid restrictions, the church has limited spaces available.
Visitation will be Friday, January 8, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN.
Funeral service for family will be Saturday, January 9, at 1:30 p.m., at Eksjo Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN. Friends are welcome to join the family via live stream.
Interment will be at Strandvik Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lake Park, MN.
