Lyle Schultz

Lyle Arling Schultz, 80, Hawley, MN, passed away on September 5, 2017, at Sanford Palliative Care, surrounded by family.
Lyle was born on May 23, 1937 at Hitterdal, MN to John and Fern Krenelka Schultz. He was raised in the Hitterdal area, graduating from high school there. On March 13, 1955, Lyle was united in marriage to Beverly Nodsle. They operated a dairy farm northeast of HItterdal until 1986. Lyle and Bev remained on the family farm until 1994 when they moved to Hawley.
From 1987 to 2004 Lyle served as the Clay County Agriculture Inspector. During this time, Lyle also drove bus for the Ulen-Hitterdal and Hawley School Districts.
Lyle served on the Ulen-Hitterdal School Board, Goose Prairie Township Board, and the Salem Lutheran Church Board. In 1997, he was named president of the MN County Ag Inspector Association. Lyle was also active with Salem Lutheran Youth, and with the Ulen-Hitterdal Booster Club.
Lyle especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling, live theater, and jigsaw puzzles.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beverly, and 4 sons and 2 daughters, Rick Deb Schultz, Hawley, Becky Mike Sipe, Dilworth, Gary Laurel Schultz, Hawley, Steve Ann Schultz, Hawley, Brian Schultz, Moorhead and Jann Mathias, Hawley. Lyle is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Jason Carisa Schultz, Dusty Schultz, Brooke Mike Brown, Brianne Schultz, Trisha Rob Deuth, Tory Devin Gaard, Chris Schultz, Jenny Schultz, Dawn Jesse Blakeway, Derek Alyssa Schultz, Mac Schultz, Makayla Schultz, Marissa Mathias and Lexie Mathias, and 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene Kjos, Hitterdal and Beverly Mell, Anoka, MN, as well as a large extended family including many special nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Homer Harold, and John, and 3 sisters, Charlotte Goff, Karol Gray and Opal Moe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Lyle.
