Lynette Louise Andel, 76, of West Fargo, ND, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, July 21, 2024. She was at Bethany on University in Fargo, ND when she departed us. Lynette was born May 24, 1948, in Breckenridge, MN, to Elroy and Mildred (Hutchins) Holtz. She was the 6th out of 9 children. Lynette graduated from Campbell High School in Breckinridge MN.
In 1972, Lynette was united in marriage to Chuck Andel and was married for 21yrs. During this time, they had a son, Chad. Chuck also brought into the marriage two beautiful girls, Jacki and Merri Jo. Over the years they gained a bonus daughter, Janet. They moved more times than one can count throughout the years finally settling in Georgetown, MN. Lynette and Chuck loved dancing when they were together and won several dance contests over the years.
She enjoyed her bowling league at Sunset Lanes. She loved camping and sitting around bonfires with family and friends and would often be found with a diet Grande Canadian in hand. She loved big gatherings and entertaining as her BBQs and potato salad were always a hit! “Netty’s” backyard was well known as being the hot spot and place to be during the summer and fall nights by Chad and his lifelong friends. You would often find a large crowd, a HUGE bonfire accompanied by good food and “LOUD” music by her personal DJ, her son, Chad. She loved playing bingo, Phase 10, Skip-bo and trips to Dakota Magic or Shooting Star. She was always up for playing her penny and nickel slots!
From 1980-2002, Lynette was a dedicated worker in food services as a cafeteria lead for St. Lukes/MeritCare/Sanford. From 2003-2023 she worked various positions retiring as a bookkeeper for the VFW Post 1223 of Moorhead, MN due to her health. Lynette was well-known and respected for the time she committed to serving military and veteran organizations. She held many auxiliary positions within Post 1223 which included Vice President and President. She was also able to run a term as President with her granddaughter Ashley as her Junior Vice President by her side. She was the 2013-2014 MN District 9 President and a chairman of the VA&R Program for the Department of American Legion Auxiliary.
Lynette and her sister Linda spent countless hours volunteering for the VA with monthly bingo and birthday parties for hospitalized veterans. They also delivered gifts to all the veterans in the hospital during Christmas time. Any time there were soldiers departing or returning, you would always find Lynette at the airport along with her other auxiliary sisters. She participated in Memorial Day ceremonies, placement of flags at area cemeteries, raising money for the Honor Flight and many other projects.
Lynette will be remembered for her warm smile, loving heart, nonjudgemental listening ear, forever lending hand, the love for her family and friends and her spicy quick-witted humor. Most importantly, she will forever be missed for her dedicated passion and service to the community and area veterans.
