Mabel Mikkelson was born February 27, 1917 at Hawley Minnesota to John and Minnie Sinkler Luthi. She attended school in Hawley. Mabel was married to Ludvig Mikkelson on October 26, 1938 in Hawley. Mabel and Ludvig farmed with his brother for two years before moving to a farm in Mentor, Minnesota. In 1943, they returned to Hawley and took over the family farm. Mabel was an active member of Solem Lutheran Church, Eglon 4-H, and the Homemakers Club. She worked for Carl's Lefse from 1971-1976. They continued to farm until Ludvig's death on February 7, 1980. In 1992, she moved to Hawley. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their school activities.She is survived by two sons, Jerome Mikkelson and Lyle Mikkelson; three daughters, Ardelle Curtis Berg, Kathy Larry Burnside, and Jean Rodney Ulven; two sisters, Dolly Oris Jetvig, and Birdie Burnside all of Hawley; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
