Mabel Regina Gunderson was born October 18, 1912, in Kensett, Iowa to Knud E. and Randina Asbjornson Gunderson. She moved with her parents to the Hawley area in 1920. She grew up and attended school in Hawley, graduating in 1931. Mabel married Stanley V. Gunderson on November 17, 1935 at Hawley Lutheran Church Parsonage. Mabel was a homemaker and assisted neighbors with various tasks. She was a 4-H leader for many years and a member of a Homemakers Club. Mabel was a member of Hawley Lutheran Church, and had held the position of President of Hawley Lutheran Church Ladies Aide. Stanley died April 1, 2006. Mabel was a resident of Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Dunnell Miller, Webster, MN, granddaughter, DeeAnn Jim Hochschild Miller; great-grandchildren, Linda Nick, Michael Miller, Rachel Miller, Jonathan Miller, Bryan Miller; grandsons, Charles Miller and Daniel Miller; granddaughter, Christine Mike Lowe Miller; great-granddaughter, Amy William Terpstra; great-great-grandchildren, Peyton & Ava; great-grandchildren, twins, Lucas & Samantha Lowe; two sons, Theodore "Ted" Marlyss Gunderson, Faribault, MN; grandson, Gerald Chris Gunderson; and great-granddaughter, Jessica Gunderson; grandson, David Gunderson; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Erryn Gunderson; grandson, Brian Candace Gunderson; and great-grandchildren, Melissa Overaker, Andy Buckwheat and Steffanie Buckwheat; and son, Charles Ruth Gunderson, Detroit Lakes, MN; grandson, Mike Jeni Gunderson; great-grandchildren, Max, Sophia, Olivia and Grace Gunderson; grandson, Erik Emily Killoran Gunderson; granddaughter, Amy Michael Summers; and two great-granddaughters, Brynn & Emery Summers. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her parents; and two sisters, Pearl Bracken and Alice Menzies.
