Mabel was born April 7, 1907 to H.H. Runningen and K. Mathilda Torgerson Runningen, in Eagle Lake Township, near Ashby, Minnesota where she grew up and attended District 14 country school. She spent her teen years hunting and fishing with her father and brothers. Mabel married Cliff Jensen in 1929 at Dalton, Minnesota. In 1935 they moved to Washington State, and in 1937 they moved to Hibbing, Minnesota. The 1940's brought them back to the Dalton/Underwood area, farming near Underwood until Cliff's death in 1970. They were active in the DFL, Farmer's Union and church activities. Mabel moved to Fergus Falls where she continued employment at Lake Region Hospital. She later retired and moved to Hawley, Minnesota. Mabel was preceded in death by her siblings, Hulda Swenson, Roy Runningen, Clifford Runningen, Caroline Runningen and Elmond Runningen; and son-in-law, Duane Swenson. She is survived by one daughter, Mavis Swenson, Hawley, MN; four grandchildren, Elana Gridley, Glenns Ferry, ID, Pam Swenson Harry Knox, King Hill, ID, Nancy Trickey, East Grand Forks, MN, and Rand Swenson, Moorhead, MN; eight great-grandchildren, Brooke Swenson, Cass Swenson, Dana Trickey, Laura Hunt, Natalie Trickey, Billy Knox, Alison Knox and Scott Gridley; three great-great grandsons; and thirteen nieces and nephews.
