Madelyn Christianson, 85, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Monday, August 3rd, 2009 at her home in Fargo surrounded by her loving children. Madelyn was born October 6, 1923, to William and Lucille Daley on the family farm south of Cogswell, North Dakota where she grew up with three sisters and two brothers all whom remained close throughout the years. She attended schools in the area, graduating from high school in 1941 and Dakota Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. She resided in San Diego, CA for 3 1/2 years and was employed at a WWII Air Craft Plant before returning to North Dakota. On June 14, 1948, she married Claude F. Christianson, the love of her life, at Cogswell, ND. Claude and Madelyn purchased and maintained Christianson Bar for 23 years before selling in 1967. After moving to Moorhead, MN, Madelyn worked for JC Penny Company for 23 years, retiring in 1989 as Office Supervisor. Madelyn took great pride in her family and was a woman of strong faith who was always a mother first. She was a woman of many talents not afraid to take on a challenge. She enjoyed hunting with her husband and family, sports, entertaining, crocheting afghans, summers at the lake and winters in Florida, her friends and an occasional trip to the casino. Madelyn is survived by three sons, Clark Diane, Mobile, AL, Craig Sandra, Valley City, ND, Clint Sally, Des Moines, IA; daughters, Connie Rodney Pearson, Minneapolis, MN and Lucille Gary Saewert, Denver, CO; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Daley, St. Cloud, MN; sisters, Laverne Qual, Jamestown, ND and Joyce Gene Cortese, Fargo, ND; nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Claude, her parents and one brother, Charles Daley.
