Mae Marie (Godfrey) Crocker, age 77, of Lake Park, MN, and Palmview, TX, passed away on December 10, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends.
Mae Marie was born on June 7th, 1941, to Cleo Edna (Ramsey) Godfrey and Ether Enoch Godfrey in Lamoni, Iowa. In 1959, she graduated from Cedar Falls High School and then went on to attend and graduate from North Central Bible College with a degree in Christian Education. During the summer of 1961, while a counselor at Camp Jim she met John Crocker, Sr. They were married the following summer on June 16. They made their first home in Bagley, MN, where their son John Jr. was born. After a move back to Minneapolis, daughters Jacquelyn and Melanie were born. In 1974 the family moved to Frazee, MN.
Mae Marie was a stay at home mom for many years and enjoyed sharing her talents of sewing, gardening, and canning. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Frazee, she served as a teacher for VBS, Awana, Release Time and Sunday School. She had a heart for reaching children to learn about Jesus and faith. Mae also enjoyed camping and traveling. Her greatest travel experiences included two mission trips to Russian orphanages, a trip to Israel and touring Alaska.
In 1986, Mae went back to college to pursue a degree in nursing. As an LPN, Mae worked at area nursing homes and in 2003 retired from Perham Memorial. She was also a PATH foster parent for 15 years.
Mae Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Ether; step-father, Ralph Byers; and sister, Margaret Pederson. She is survived by her husband, John Crocker Sr.; son, John Crocker Jr. of Rochester, MN; daughters, Jacquelyn (Mark) Mattfeld, of Lake Park, MN, and Melanie (Frank) Larrabee of Nocona, TX; foster son, Dwayne Morris of Faribault, MN; six granddaughters, Sarah, Joanna, Elishua, Alexis, Paige, and Shayanne; two grandsons Johnny and Roman; and five great-grandsons Trevor, Connor and Reed, Dominik and Tobias.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Hawley Alliance Church, 404 Peters St, Hawley, MN.
The family of Mae Marie Crocker would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Hospice of the Red River Valley for the special care they gave Mae Marie.
